Caldwell County Court Docket Basics
A court docket is the running event list for a case. In Caldwell County, a docket may show the case number, party names, division, filing date, hearing dates, event type, docket text, judgments, warrants, payment entries, and other public case events. Dockets are useful when a person needs to confirm a hearing, see whether a case has moved, check whether a continuance was entered, or review whether a judgment or disposition has been posted.
The docket is narrower than the full court record. A docket can tell a reader that a motion was filed, a hearing was set, a plea occurred, or a judgment was entered. The underlying document may not be visible online, and some documents may require a clerk request or may be restricted. For full-file context, Caldwell County court records are handled through Case.net and the Circuit Clerk, while docket questions can also be directed by phone.
- Docket
- A chronological list of public case events.
- Entry
- One item on that timeline, such as a filing, hearing, order, or payment event.
- Disposition
- The current or final outcome of a case or charge.
- Continuance
- A court-approved delay or reset of a hearing.
Find Caldwell County Court Dates
The main online source for Caldwell County court dockets is Missouri Case.net. Caldwell County's Circuit Clerk page points users to Case.net for public case records, including docket entries. The official public defender guidance also explains how to use Case.net to check court dates and how to set Track This Case reminders after a case is found. Those reminders can help, but they are not official court notice.
- Open Case.net and search by case number if the number is known.
- Use litigant name search when no case number is available.
- Match the result to Caldwell County, Judicial Circuit 43, the case type, and the correct party.
- Open the case and review scheduled hearings, docket entries, judgment entries, and payment or warrant events.
- Use Track This Case only as a reminder tool, not as proof that the court has served official notice.
- Call the Caldwell County Circuit Clerk if the hearing is unclear, recent, missing, or confidential.
The manifest assigned the Missouri State Public Defender court-date lookup guidance to this docket page. That source is useful because it describes Case.net court-date lookup from the viewpoint of criminal defendants and families trying to confirm a pending date.
The same online lookup path applies to many public Caldwell County docket events, but the Circuit Clerk remains the fallback when a date is not clear.
Caldwell County Docket Entry Fields
Case.net docket entries are public summaries. The exact wording varies by case type and division, but the research file identifies the core fields that a Caldwell County reader should expect. Criminal and traffic matters may show charges, court dates, pleas, bond events, fine or cost entries, and warrant or failure-to-appear events. Civil, probate, and family dockets may show filings, notices, hearings, judgments, and orders that are public.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Entry Date | The date the event was filed, scheduled, or entered on the court record. |
| Event Type | Hearing, filing, order, judgment, continuance, payment, warrant, or disposition event. |
| Hearing Date and Time | The scheduled court appearance, division, judge, or event setting when public. |
| Party or Attorney | The party, attorney, or court actor linked to the entry when shown. |
| Docket Text | A brief public summary of the action taken or filing received. |
| Document Access | Remote public documents may appear for some cases, but restricted or older documents may require the clerk. |
MSPD's application process page is also assigned to this page in the manifest because court dates and defender applications often intersect. A public defender application is separate from a docket search and is for qualifying criminal or juvenile cases.
When the docket shows a criminal setting and counsel is needed, the docket lookup and the public defender application process are separate steps.
Caldwell County Courts With Dockets
Caldwell County belongs to Missouri's 43rd Judicial Circuit. The local court structure includes the Circuit Court, associate circuit work, the Probate Division of the Circuit Court, municipal divisions, traffic matters, small claims, domestic cases, and criminal cases. The county courts page lists Circuit Judges Ryan Horsman and R. Brent Elliott, Associate Circuit Judge Jason Kanoy, and Circuit Clerk Carrie Miller. It also identifies Hamilton Municipal Court and Polo Municipal Court as municipal divisions holding hearings at the Caldwell County Courthouse.
| Court or Division | Docket Access Path | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Caldwell County Circuit Court | Case.net and Circuit Clerk | Main trial court for civil, criminal, family, probate, traffic, and municipal division records. |
| Associate Circuit Judge | Case.net and Circuit Clerk | Local associate circuit work, with phone support through the courthouse line. |
| Hamilton Municipal Court | Case.net when filed, Circuit Clerk phone | Hearings at the Caldwell County Courthouse; clerk address P.O. Box 68. |
| Polo Municipal Court | Case.net when filed, Circuit Clerk phone | Hearings at the Caldwell County Courthouse; clerk address P.O. Box 68. |
| Probate Division | Case.net for public cases, Circuit Clerk for fallback | Estates, wills, guardianships, conservatorships, small estate affidavits, and public probate entries. |
For non-court custody questions, use the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department contact page. The manifest includes that source because jail, bond, and custody facts may affect whether a court appearance or warrant event needs immediate confirmation.
The sheriff can confirm custody or detention information, but court dates and docket entries still route to Case.net or the Circuit Clerk.
Caldwell County Dockets vs Case Records
A docket can answer quick timeline questions. It can show whether a case exists, when it was filed, what has happened, and when the next court date is scheduled. A full case record can be broader. It may include pleadings, motions, orders, judgments, charging documents, sentencing entries, exhibits, probate filings, and other papers that do not all appear in a public docket summary.
| Docket | Full Case Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Chronological event list | Case file with entries and documents |
| Best Use | Confirm dates, status, and recent events | Review filings, orders, judgments, and case history |
| Access | Often visible in Case.net for public cases | May need Case.net document access or Circuit Clerk help |
| Limits | Short public summaries | Can include restricted or nonpublic documents |
Note: A docket date can change after a continuance, so confirm close dates with the Circuit Clerk when timing matters.
Missed Caldwell County Court Dates
A missed court date can create serious docket entries, including failure-to-appear events, bond changes, bench warrants, payment deadlines, or new settings. The research file identifies bench warrants and capias or failure-to-appear events as docket items that may appear in Case.net. The official sheriff warrant page was not active at inspection time, so a person should not rely on a sheriff web warrant search to resolve a missed Caldwell County court date.
The practical route is to search Case.net, then call the Circuit Clerk at 816-586-2581 or 816-586-2771. For Hamilton Municipal Court and Polo Municipal Court, the same courthouse phone line is the listed contact. If a person is in custody or bond needs confirmation, the Detention Center phone is 816-586-JAIL. Bond amounts and charges can change after court appearances, so the jail and court record should be checked together when both are relevant.
Traffic and municipal dockets deserve the same care. The sheriff's online ticket pay page says traffic payment information may take up to two weeks to become available and warns that sheriff staff will not call to request payment information. That timing can make a newly issued citation hard to find right away. If the docket is not visible yet, use the citation, officer agency, name, and court date from the ticket when calling the Circuit Clerk. For Hamilton or Polo municipal cases, ask whether the matter is set under the municipal division, the associate circuit division, or a circuit case number.
Caldwell County Docket Phone Help
The Caldwell County courts page says docket information should be requested by phone at 816-586-2581. The Circuit Clerk page lists Carrie Miller, Circuit Clerk, at the Caldwell County Courthouse, 49 East Main, Kingston, Missouri 64650, with office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office also lists 816-586-2771 and fax 816-586-2333. Use those contacts when Case.net does not show a hearing, a date appears recently changed, or a record is too restricted for public online access.
Before calling, gather the case number if available, the party name, date of birth if the clerk requests it for identification, the hearing date shown on any notice, and the case type. For probate, family, juvenile, sealed, or protection-order matters, the clerk may be able to confirm only limited information to a public caller. For a certified copy or full case file, docket information alone is not enough; the request must be tied to the official court record and any copy or certification rules the clerk applies.
Caldwell County's May 18, 2015 eFiling implementation is also relevant. Newer attorney-filed events are more likely to fit Missouri's electronic case environment, while older paper files or historical docket entries may need clerk research. That does not mean older cases are unavailable. It means a public online docket search may be only the first step.
